Kinto Sol

Picture
Kinto Sol is a Latin hip hop group based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The group consists of three brothers: DJ Payback Garcia (Javier García) [left], El Chivo (Eduardo García) [middle] and Skribe (Manuel García) [right]; originally from Iramuco, Guanajuato, Mexico. They moved to the US at a very young age due to financial struggle. They rap mainly in Spanish, fusing traditional Mexican music with hip hop beats that makes their sound original and like no other. They own their own independent record label, Virus Enterprises LLC, which specializes in Latin Hip Hop.

The group's name is a phonetic spelling of "quinto sol" (fifth sun) with a little hip hop twist, and is taken from an Aztec legend in which the Fifth Sun will be the last one to set in this lifetime.

BIO  Kinto Sol is a Spanish hip hop group with national recognition that is based out of Milwaukee. The musical group has achieved national syndication appearing in Spanish language television shows such as “Sabado Gigante”, “Don Fransciso Presenta”, “Primer Impacto”, “Despierta America”, and several other shows. Kinto Sol has been recognized in articles across the nation including Lowrider Magazine, The Chicago Tribune, The San Antonio Express, Houston Chronicles, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Rolling Stone Magazine and Billboard Magazine they have been published internationally, as far as Argentina. Their songs have graced the charts in Latino Billboard.

Kinto Sol began when three brothers, “Skribe”, “DJ Payback Garcia” and “El Chivo,” set out to pursue their passion in music.

Skribe, the executive producer and CEO of Virus Enterprises, moved from Mexico to Chicago then to Milwaukee. DJ Payback Garcia & El Chivo moved from Mexico to Milwaukee, DJ Payback at age 15 and El Chivo at 7.

Skribe began his musical career as a DJ in 1990.

In time, the brothers built a music studio first out of their home and then at their store focusing on various soundtracks and compilations, such as those DJ Payback Garcia gained notoriety for: “Aztek Zoulz” and “Hecho en Aztlan” both hip-hop compilations. Payback soon began to produce distinctive musical recordings. As a music engineer he has produced music for various groups and record labels. Currently he is working on the production of the new Kinto Sol album entitled, “Carcel De Suenos”, which will be released June, 2008.

As Skribe and Payback dove into the music industry, a new world opened up for them, leading to the creation of hip-hop sensation Kinto Sol.

Skribe recalls wanting to create something that had meaning, a vehicle that he could express himself through. Kinto Sol today has become just that, and more. It is the voice of people of all ages, race, and professions.

Skribe's charismatic personality and drive, along with DJ Payback Garcia's keen sense of sound and El Chivo's popularity all make Kinto Sol. Their humility and hard work have led to the opening of many doors of opportunity to them and their efforts have not gone unrecognized, having most recently secured a working relationship with Universal Records.

Through the years the group has created four Spanish language albums titled, “Del Norte al Sur,” “Hecho En Mexico,” “La Sangre Nunca Muere,” and “Los Hijos Del Maiz.”

Their most recent album, “Los Hijos Del Maiz” was released on February 13, 2007. This album has become what they have strived for over the years, a vehicle to positively express who they are and to disseminate information and to make statements about different social issues. It won Billboard’s best Latin Hip-Hop album of the year.
With Kinto Sol (Skribe, Payback and El Chivo) now well established, the brothers say it has been a blessing to do what they love to do on a daily basis. “It is hard work but well worth it”.

The brothers are currently working on various projects through their record company, Virus Enterprises.
